Anurag Basu’s Barfi is one of the biggest multiplex hits in history and the first such film to join the coveted ‘100 crore club’. The Ranbir Kapoor starrer collected 57.5 crores in it’s first week, sustained well at the box-office in Week 2 and continued it’s excellent run in Week 3. The film crossed the 100 crore mark in it’s fourth weekend.
What makes Barfi such a big success is the fact that, single screens have contributed very little to the film’s business. The film was targeted mainly at the multiplex audience – much like other multiplex successes like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Cocktail.
Barfi is Ranbir Kapoor’s biggest grosser and his first 100 crore film. He becomes the 7th male lead actor to have atleast one 100 crore hit, after Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Shahrukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Akshay Kumar.
