Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan has collected Rs 184.65 crore in its first week at the box office, taking it to the 2nd spot in the highest first week totals of all time.
Unlike Dhoom 3, Bajrangi Bhaijaan was not a franchise film, not did it have a popular music album or action sequences that attract the masses. The credit for the record-breaking opening goes entirely to Salman Khan, who ensured that the film got a huge initial, after which the word-of-mouth took over.
So just how massive is the first week collections of Bajrangi Bhaijaan? Some points:
- Bajrangi Bhaijaan is the 10th highest grosser of all time in just 7 days. Ahead of films like Dabangg, Dabangg 2, Bodyguard, Rowdy Rathore, Singham Returns and Bang Bang just to name a few.
- The first week business of Bajrangi Bhaijaan is more than the combined business of both Akshay Kumar releases so far. Gabbar Is Back 85 crore, Baby 96 crore. Total Rs 181 crore.
- The film smashed the record of the previous highest grossing film of 2015 – Tanu Weds Manu Returns (151 crore) – in just 5 days!
- The first week business of Bajrangi Bhaijaan is more than the combined business of 80% of Bollywood releases so far this year.
- The film was one of the fastest to cross the 100 crore mark (3 days) and the fastest of all time to cross the 150 crore mark (5 days)
- A 20 crore holiday opening day would be considered outstanding for almost all stars in the industry outside the Top 4. But Salman’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan has collected 20 crore or more on 5 consecutive days, beating the previous record of 4 consecutive days by PK.
With one extra holiday or a release period like ‘KICK’ last year, when the Eid holiday fell during the weekdays, Bajrangi Bhaijaan could have probably become the first film to collect Rs 200 crore in its first week itself.

I need to find the link with my query but thanks for posting my rant….!
One sec
@Ajay Rocks.. first understand the Bookmyshow booking system.. you need to go there, select a ticket and then pay. Otherwise, a ticket has to be sold directly in theatres for it to reflect on our system..
@indicine I never said you made that comment about ‘BB surpassing PK easily’.
I have clearly written that most fans here have said that in your comments section.
Sorry copy n paste of the question didnt work but heres the link to the pk vs bb comparison updated article page 2-

My query was posted on 22nd July 2015, 10:05am near the bottom of page 2.
Just querying if you had accurately calculated PKs final Chinese BO collections and came to the right conclusion about PKs final Overseas / WW figure which I believe now stands at 750cr plus. Clarification from you will be vital as going forward one needs to be sure if a film has collected 725cr WW or 750cr WW when arguing for their fav stars movie…!
Thanks in advance for looking into this…!
300cr on the way..
@neeraj i hv often seen ur bms showing ticket avaliable fr a particular show but when u select the option and try to book it,then it shows no tickets available.
y this manipulation in certain shows????
Haha @Ajay rocks bashed by nerraj & javed ..!
@ Neeraj, you may know more than me but you seem like You don’t get my point.. we are talking BMS, innit? DUDE you dont believe that no one can cheat or manipulate the system lolz we are in era where the hackers can do impossible things.

those commenting on IMDB ratings, it should be noted that a fair idea of imdb ratings can only be ascertained 1-2 months after the film’s release…..
after first week, PK was rated around 9.5…..these ratings tend to decrease after the intial hysteria which lasts a few weeks….!!!
Bajrangi can be seen on DVD waiting for dilwale
@ pk77
i asked indicine cuz i dont want to get confused between producer & trade figures. since we are commenting on indicine lets only talk about figures shown on indicine. and by that, it does not hav any important record like those i mentioned. ya it may hav side records like a highest tuesday or a highest non holiday monday but those records are not remembered like a lifetime record or an opening day record.
so prdp is only hope for salman to cross the opening day of hny this year as you need incredible content to cross pk’s lifetime & both bb & prdp wont do that.
as for srk, dilwale wont hav any record cuz of the clash but he can still hold opening day record if prdp fails to cross hny. but srk still holds the greatest record of “giving a 200 crore grosser to farah khan” & i dont think anyone will even dare to challenge him for that. lol. still cant believe a complete nonsense film like hny crossed 200 crore.lol
