Bajrangi Bhaijaan declared Tax Free in Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh government, headed by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, has decided to make Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan tax free in the state.

The director of the film, Kabir Khan met the CM in this regard on Monday after which it was decided to make the film tax free, an official spokesman said.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister pointed out his government’s resolve to encourage film making facilities in the state for which he said that an attractive film policy has been drafted by the state government.

“The film policy has encouraged many producers in the past three years to shoot in the state and more proposals are being received for it,” he said, adding that work was on to set up two film cities in the state.

Earlier, Salman Khan had said that he wants both Prime Minster Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif to watch the film.

On being asked about tax free status for the film, Salman had said “We want the government to earn money from this film but they should put that money for the betterment of the society, so that there is progress. If that doesn’t happen, the film has to be made tax free”

With a major state like UP getting tax exemption, watching Bajrangi Bhaijaan will not only be more affordable for people in Uttar Pradesh but also help increase the box office collections of the film.
