Bajrangi Bhaijaan is plundering records at the domestic and overseas box office. The film has set the record for the highest 2nd Saturday and 2nd Sunday at the box office, beating the second weekend collections of Aamir Khan’s PK.
The PK record looked insurmountable in December last year, but the extraordinary word-of-mouth of Bajrangi Bhaijaan has proved yet again that super stardom combined with good content and universally appealing genre, is the golden formula for setting records at the box office.
Some other points:
- Salman Khan has firmly established himself as the biggest star in the country today. Pre-Eid, Heavy rains, Baahubali (a dubbed film that is carrying incredible word-of-mouth), media negativity due to court cases.. absolutely nothing has stopped the audience from coming out in big numbers to watch Bajrangi Bhaijaan in the first weekend itself. Without a record-breaking initial, it’s almost impossible for a film to collect 300 crore plus. When the footfalls are high in the first weekend itself, word-of-mouth spreads like wildfire, which brings more people to theatres. A lesser star, outside the Top 3, without a festive release, wouldn’t have done justice to a film like Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
- The biggest surprise though has come from the overseas business of Bajrangi Bhaijaan. The previous highest grossing Salman film overseas was Kick (Rs 70 crore). Bajrangi Bhaijaan is set to double that total by the end of its run and will be competing with Dhoom 3 for the 2nd highest overseas grosser, if and when it releases in other countries like China and Japan. With a film like Prem Ratan Dhan Payo lined up for release, overseas success couldn’t have come at a better time for Salman.
- The drop from first weekend to second weekend is just 45%. Assuming that the drops are around 50% during the weekdays, the film will end its 2nd week with net box office collections of 280-282 crore. That’s the amount Dhoom 3 collected in its entire run!
- The worldwide gross of Bajrangi Bhaijaan now stands at Rs 435 crore, which is higher than Chennai Express’s Rs 425 total (the third highest worldwide grosser). The film is certain to beat Dhoom 3’s Rs 540 crore total and could eventually get close to the 600 crore mark!
In short, Bajrangi Bhaijaan is yet another turning point in Salman Khan’s career. With the Kabir Khan directed film, the actor has taken giant leaps towards global superstardom.

BB sureshoot beat pk in india n 3I in oversease after entire run mark my words
All those thinking that BB would release in China, don’t get dissapointed bcoz most probably it won’t.
In China, there is a limit to non-english language films that release in a year, maybe 5 or at max 6. Most of them are covered by Korean and Japanese films.
Aamir Khan has a huge fan following in China since 3 Idiots which is why almost every film of his releases there.
But, nobody knows Salman Khan in China, just like SRK.
Remember HNY that released in China on 5000 screens earned only 1.68 crs.
D3 although poor in content made 20.5 crs in China bcoz of Aamir.
So, BB won’t break PK worldwide collections.
There is no point releasing BB in China due to limit on releases.
If BB clicks in china like pk then BB beat D3 too

It’s just a matter of dishonor that a movie is grossing 45 cr in its 1st day(HNY) & lifetime ends in only 204 cr……these all because of the public whose verdict & opinion resulting whether to watch or not……..Here the case is different as no chartbuster music, no big franchise(like D3),no item song, no action series, even trailer/teaser was not so up to mark………..although absence of all theses (as all these mixture is demanded now-a-days) , the movie proved as an extraordinary in both box office & critics choice.

Salman is a great star in india today.to prove that To be honest bb should evict pk. Chances are 50-50. For 2 weeks bb will lead.after that god knows. Amir never compete his movies with srk or salman. I really want to see a clash as after 2009 salman’s stardom has grown. I think srk and salman rivalry made the growth in their fan following. It benefited them. in my country nepal salmans followin is bigger then others. Srk is a great actor . I really think if competition ever came between them salman or srk may be at top. I think competition is between srk and samlan only. I guess 310-315 crs lifetime india & 565 crs worldwide yet 150crs short of pk worldwide , pk record is to big for any actor to surpass it. Pk did 41m dollars overseas which salman can never achieve as he doesnt have a mkt overseas.

I firmly believe that people worldwide are yearning for such messages as the one in BB. Our world is in turmoil, and when we see a film with such a human touch to it our hearts go out in response. Also many people connect to the man Salman, we know what its like to fail but it also shows mankind how merciful God is and that brings new hope and courage, this film by the grace of God will bring about change in the hearts of many to become our brothers keepers for when we express love one to another we become representatives of God. BB deserves every bit of success it is getting and is set to get much more!
Baahubali’s dubbed Hindi version has alone collected as much as 85 crores till now & by the end of its run could most probably end up with 92-96 crores net lifetime collections but even 100 crores can’t be ruled out entirely , so just imagine how incredibly successful Baahubali has been, to put things into some perspective it has collected more than 4 times the amount of collections the 2nd highest Hindi dubbed south Indian movie (Superstar Rajnikanth’s Robot with around 19 crores) had collected and its collections are more or atleast as good as some of Akki’s (who is considered as one of the bollywood’s top most superstars) highest grossing movies and what is more worth mentioning is that Baahubali – the most costliest Indian movie ever achieved all these during normal non-holiday period & without any recognizable names other than ss rajamouli, tamanaah & rana to some extent, just incredible!
BB in spite of receiving a thunderous competition from Baahubali has broken so many Bollywood records or is at least threatening to (probably BB must have have broken around 80%-90% of all the existing major bollywood records till now) and looking at the way it is performing even now , no one can really point out at BB’s historic & phenomenal success, its a classic & universal ATBB like 3 idiots!
BB has every chance in the world to overtake pk’s domestic collections and emerge as the highest grosser of all time , so fingers crossed.
