If the makers of Bajirao Mastani were told that their film, Bajirao Mastani, would collect Rs 86 crore in its first week at the box office, they wouldn’t believe it themselves. Not only has the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film fared well, but it has found a place in the Top 20 highest opening week of all time.
Bajirao Mastani started off as the David, who took on the Goliath Dilwale at the box office last week and the results have shocked and surprised the trade. Dilwale is still leading the clash, but with each passing day, Bajirao Mastani is eating into the slender lead.
Like we mentioned in our ‘early estimate’ report yesterday, Bajirao Mastani has collected Rs 10.5 crore at the domestic box office, taking its first week total to Rs 86.16 crore.
The first week collection is better than Bhansali’s last release ‘Ram Leela’ which collected Rs 82.25 crore with a solo release.
Looking at the advance booking for today, Bajirao Mastani has every chance of crossing the Rs 15 crore mark and will cross the 100 crore mark too. At multiplexes, Bajirao Mastani has a lead over Dilwale in almost all circuits except West Bengal, Tamilnadu/Kerala and Nizam/Andhra. In Bengal, Bajirao Mastani is matching the collections of Dilwale at multiplexes, while at single-screens the SRK starrer has a huge lead.
In Tamilnadu, Bajirao Mastani has overtaken Dilwale today. In the state of Kerala, where Shah Rukh Khan is the top superstar, Dilwale is the first choice.
As far as lifetime box office collection is concerned, Bajirao Mastani is certain to cross the 150 crore mark and has an outside chance to do business in the range of 180 – 190 crore, if business can cross the 45 crore mark this weekend. A section of the trade, is even discussing chances of the film doing Rs 200 crore lifetime.

I think a huge star like SRK who got almost everything he got as an actor, he will pick a movie which allow him to show his talent, not to prove his star power.
if i were SRK fan, i would be happy if Diwale didnt win as people expected it to be. because it will help SRK realize he made a mistake. Nobody perfect. So it’s ok if he fails sometime. The important is he realize it and fix it.

BAJIRAO already won the battle by huge margin by defeating DILWALE. But some SRK fans are still supporting DILWALE and giving excuses.
Anyway with weekdays collections it is Cristal clear BAJIRAO will take all advantage of upcoming Holidays like Christmas and New Year in its second week. But on the other hand DILWALE can’t take this advantages in second week. Because of STAR WARS is releasing on Christmas with huge promotion in worldwide. STAR WARS is a multiplex film and will take more than expectation screen from DILWALE from multiples.
So lifetime collections of both films will be from now.
