Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale is one of the shorter big films in recent times, as the runtime of the film falls in between Ra One and PK. However, Dilwale is longer than Rohit Shetty and SRK’s last film together ‘Chennai Express’ which went on to be the highest grosser of all time.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani is slightly longer at 158 minutes, but there is very little difference between the two.
When the runtime of films is somewhere around the 160 minutes mark or lesser, it can help films get more shows at multiplexes, thereby increasing the revenue in the all-important first weekend. The runtime could prove to be critical this time around, as there are two big films battling for screen space at multiplexes.
There are reports that Bhansali edited out several scenes and dance sequences to make the film shorter. Both films release in theatres on December 18.

An all important article..always wanted to know the runtime of both these films as its important to get as many shows as possible especially when u are involved in a big clash..but I can’t understand why two major multiplexes in my area have given Dilwale only 5 shows on 1 screen and the gap between shows is 3.15 hrs rather than 3 hours… I hope they allot more shows on other screens when they open the advance booking in a full-fledged manner..

Dilwale will be awesome after watching all songs, teasers and promos………. bajirao Mastani will also be a good historical drama. I don’t know why SRK fans posting such hatred comments against other movies. I feel Bajirao Mastani should have been postponed to a 1st Jan. 2016 release. With Dilwale on 18th , Star Wars VII on 25th , it will be a big fight for screen space. In a 5 screen space, Dilwale wil get 3 and a half screens and Bajirao Mastani will get only 1 and a half screen mean Dilwale will get 16-17 shows while Bajirao Mastani will get 7-8 shows. Star Wars will also get a screen next week so it will be a competitive end to the year. Star Wars VII is my first choice as it is a hollywood movie and trailers are also awesome. I think Dilwale will get 24-26 crores and Bajirao will get 8-10 crores which is good according to clash. After day 1, WoM will decide.

I’m being really honest. There’s too much of negativity around dilwale atleast here in Delhi. Most of the people here have taken Srk’s intolerance statement to their hearts. It will have a big impact in my opinion.
