Bajirao Mastani vs Dilwale Runtime compared to other big films

Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale is one of the shorter big films in recent times, as the runtime of the film falls in between Ra One and PK. However, Dilwale is longer than Rohit Shetty and SRK’s last film together ‘Chennai Express’ which went on to be the highest grosser of all time.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani is slightly longer at 158 minutes, but there is very little difference between the two.

When the runtime of films is somewhere around the 160 minutes mark or lesser, it can help films get more shows at multiplexes, thereby increasing the revenue in the all-important first weekend. The runtime could prove to be critical this time around, as there are two big films battling for screen space at multiplexes.

There are reports that Bhansali edited out several scenes and dance sequences to make the film shorter. Both films release in theatres on December 18.
