As a 2009 New year special, we start this new section on our site called “Ask Us”. Its pretty darn straight forward.

Have any query / question about stars, movies, box-office or anything related to Bollywood? Ask Us! Just submit your question(s) below, in the usual comments section. We will try and answer as many questions as we possibly can.

Note – Questions should only be in English and try to be as clear with your question as possible, it will help us understand better.

  • Dear Indicine team, I very much appreciate your quick response and moreoever this Ask Us section of your website. Now coming back to my question about the Intl awards won by Sridevi, I have read about the awards mentioned below many times but the problem is that the sources are not reliable because most of the times, its on wikipedia or Answer.com where anyone can write. I checked Wiki and the website of the respective awards but could not find Sridevi’s name among winners. Like recently when Preity won Chicago Intl Film Fest award, its there on a lot of authentic websites, its not the case with the Intl Awards won by Sridevi ( if she really did). Would it be possible for you to PLEASE site some sources for the awards mentioned below? Sorry for bothering you again.

    @Indicine Team: If i’m not wrong Ashutosh’s first movie PEHLA NASHA was less than 3 hours of running time. Pls rectify if i’m wrong.

    Oh Yes.. It was! But most of his films before Lagaan have now been “forgotten”. He is a different director now.. ONe of the best in India!

    She hasn’t signed anything apart from My Name Is Khan. SHe has a movie with Ajay Devgan, but it isn’t official yet!

  • Indicine, thanks for your reply on the Intl awards won by Sridevi but I have noticed that these awards are only mentioned on some sites like Wiki or Answer where anybody can post. You can’t ALWAYS rely on the info on these sites.I could not find any authentic link to awards mentioned below. Would it be possible for you provide some authentic reference/link?

  • hai indicine…. there was film called “dharthiputra” starring mammootty and rishi kapoor.. can u giv its details… hit or flop.. how was the reaction frm audience…

    Dhartiputra. It released in 1993 (5th June). Didn’t do too well at the box office.

    Released in 2005. It again didn’t do too well commercially. No awards as far as we know.

    Currently or in the history? It would be tough to gather accurate info with the all time Top 5.. In the last decade or so would be easier.. What are you looking for ?

  • Q; what happened to Shiney Ahuja’s case? Is he in jail now and for how long? Did he confess that he’s guilty or not? Do u think he’s guily or innocent?

    I still can’t believe that he did it!!

    All medical reports have claimed that he actually did rape the maid. A 109 page long charge sheet has been filed and the actor is currently in Arthur Jail.

  • in recent past all the films which had heavy VFX have failed ( ls 2050, drona, roadside romeo(though animated)). is it due to the poor story, script etc or there are some other reason such as audiance are not ready to accept such films.

    actually i wanna be a VFX artist….

    What’s the point in spending millions on VFX with a pathetic script? A movie has to connect with the audience, it could be those ‘moments’ in the film or emotions.. something that would grip the audience for those 2+ hours.. A film cannot survive purely on special effects, Hollywood or Bollywood. Rarely it could, but there could be some other factor like a big star for example.. or something never-before-seen..

    But this never-been-seen thing is dead, atleast in Bollywood with the exposure the audience have with Hollywood film. We have to rely on content, and the content in most films is very poor.

    The films you mentioned lacked both content and a big star, hence the box office outcome.

  • Ok, lets make it from 1980 to 1995. If possible, please let me know the names of top 5 actresses 1 to 5 in terms of No. Of Hit Movies.

  • Q: we always see in bollywood movies some big houses which r similar to castles, in some nice green aeas.. where do they normally shoot these scenes? R these houses belong to some wealthy rich people and in some far away places of India? I always thought it’s not in India, but the architecture is indian, not western. I am asking this because I visited India Mumba, Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Audaipur but I never saw such houses there!!

    Well some of them are sets, some real locations and some of the more recent ones (like in Dostana) were special effects. There are many huge mansions in India, most of them in smaller cities.

    Blue music will be out soon. Main Aur Mrs Khanna next month.

    Its Main Aur Mrs. Khanna (small role) and Har Pall with Shiney Ahuja is still awaiting release.

  • lets just say we somehow get the chance to act in a Bollywood movie is knowing how to speak Hindi fluently a big factor cant you just know how to say your lines perfectly without knowing how to speak Hindi fluently in your social life? will English do?

    Voice can be dubbed. Actors from south or from the west (Katrina Kaif), their voices are usually dubbed. So it is not very necessary that you speak fluent hindi.

  • frankly speaking…I have never seen salman promoting movie Wanted like any other movie…..Wht indication can we get from here?He had gone to every new channel,even zoom channel too…He is really promoting this movie……Can it be huge hit?

    Well heavy promotion like most things in the world has its own pros and cons. Promotion purely cannot guarantee a HIT
