As a 2009 New year special, we start this new section on our site called “Ask Us”. Its pretty darn straight forward.

Have any query / question about stars, movies, box-office or anything related to Bollywood? Ask Us! Just submit your question(s) below, in the usual comments section. We will try and answer as many questions as we possibly can.

Note – Questions should only be in English and try to be as clear with your question as possible, it will help us understand better.

  • There is been news tht in oct 16 ,5 major movies like blue,aladdin,all the best and kajraree,mr and miss khana is going to compete one another?is this true

    There is enough business during Diwali for two big releases to clash. Not a problem at all.. A couple of films could be delayed if Blue is 100% confirmed to arrive on the day.

    How do we answer this? To each his own, in my opinion.. Both were bad. Love Aaj Kal had better songs.. One was a multiplex film, other worked better at single screens.

    We cannot confirm as of now. Maybe a few days before the release, we could. Take everything that you read in gossip n rumours column in newspapers with a pinch of salt!

    Yes, a huge disaster. Everyone involved lost money. Should have recovered around 25 crores of its investment. Budget was 50 crores+

  • Recently my name is khan has been sold to fox studio about 100 crs.But Movies which r produce by foreign banner has not done good job beside slumdog milliniar but it was directed by foreign director.So looking by this stat.,It will surely get good opening but still can it be biggest hit?

    Sudeep, it doesnt matter if movies with the backing of Hollywood studios hasn’t worked. What matters is the content, if the movie is good, it should work..

    Not confirmed, but Imtiaz has started working on his next. Kambakht Ishq has crashed badly after Week 1. Yet to touch 55 crores in India (net gross)

    There were a few issues in the past, but not anymore. They should work together pretty soon. They were signed on to work together in Zoya Akhtar’s Kismat Konnection, but the film was unfortunately shevled.

  • when is the release date of the movie Ravan for Aish/Abhishek Bachan?

    Should be early next year. It was scheduled to release this year, but the director Mani Ratnam suffered a heart attack and according to rumours some portions are being reshot. This and more (like the elephant incident) has delayed the release by a good 3 – 4 months..

  • Kaminey is going to release on 14th aug.It is possible tht if movie is good,then the hype it has created,it can become one of the biggest hit of the bollywood industry?But how much it can earn minimum if this movie is not good?

    Worst case scenario should be around 40 crores, given the hype around the movie. But even if the movie receives critical acclaim its unlikely it could come anywhere close to the biggest hit of Bollywood. Kaminey is not the kinda movie that would be universally accepted. Omkara got great reviews but was a box office FLOP.

  • I think I already asked this question and u did answer about Liza Ray.. I’m not sure coz I’m visiting also some other websites: Liza Ray is a very good actress.. she’s half Indian as far as I know.. she did a good job in Kasoor & Water.. so why bollywood directors are ignoring her.. or if the fact is that she’s the one who doesnt’ want to do any more bollywod movies after Kasoor, as it was a good movie, didn’t lack anything, but didn’t please the audience.

    I consider her better than lots of actresses in bollywood…she got a gift.. a charisma on the screen.. deep, sexy and talented.. there4 I wonder why the producers of bollywood aren’t signing her for their movies.. she fits alot with Shahrukh & Aamir.. she’s good for serious roles like the roles she always plays.. is it because she has to (dance & jump and romance the way bollywood actresses do normally?) she can be given the roles which suits her

    Lisa Ray is a good actress, but there are so many “wasted” talents in Bollywood. There is no question of why / how here.. Dont think she aint interested in Bollywood anymore, its just the lack of good opportunities. Outsiders get very few chances, and if their first few movies dont work at the box-office they slowly fade away.. Not everyone is as lucky as Abhishek Bachchan or Kareena Kapoor!

    Please ask one question at a time. We cannot answer multiple questions. Anyways, as your questions are pretty simple, let me answer them.

    1) Ghajini, Dhoom 2, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi in the last 2- 3 years..
    2) DDLJ is just running in one theatre in Mumbai. How does it make it the biggest hit ever? For your information, the biggest hit of the 90s is Hum Aapke Hain Kaun.
    3) A few of them. For example Jodha Akbar, Ghajini..

  • i asked this already but u replied only considering last 3 years..can u inform the 3 biggest hits ever in bollywood…

    Quite tough to actually reduce the list down to 3, as there have been hundreds of blockbusters.. These days, movies make more money, but the budget is also much higher.. Sholay was probably made within a budget of 1.. But made about 16 crores (nett gross), i.e about 16 times of the money invested.. Adjust inflation and it goes upto 180 crores!

    Bollywood business has changed considerably over the last few years, so cannot accurately tell you the biggest hits ever.

  • IT has been confirmed tht all 4 movie ALL the best,BLUE,Mr and miss khanna,ALAdin is releasing on oct 16?Wht effect it will make on MOvie BLUE,since its cost of making film is said to be 100 crs.?If 1 movie is best than other then tht mean other will be flop ? And plz put the promo of blue in ur website since it is said to be seen on this friday

    The DIwali week business could be close to 55 crores, if not more. A solo big release would have probably meant business of 45 – 50 crores in week 1.. But with multiple releases, overall business will be higher, but it would certainly affect collections of all releases, including Blue.

    And one movie turning out to be good, doesn’t necessarily mean other would flop.. Gadar – Lagaan, Taare Zameen Par – Welcome.. a few example of multiple big releases.. Sadly though, Lagaan was a better movie, but did much lesser money.. Same with Taare and Welcome, although Taare earned less it was a bigger hit, as the budget was much lesser..

  • Hindi films will release two days earlier in gulf country compare to India is it true kya ?

    Yes. One reason why pirated copies hit India, at times, before the release of the film!

  • Fasi: I can answer this question coz I’m from Gulf, Bahrain.. yeah.. it’s true.. your day of release is always Friday, and our day of release for any new movies is on Wednesday,. it happens most of the time that in our country, they show movies 2 days earlier, but sometimes they delay it for a week later of they got lots of new movies and can’t show in the same week
