Akshay vs Hrithik: Kites to clash with Houseful

Kites has been postponed by a week and will now arrive on May 21st 2010 which will mean the Roshan’s most ambitious project with clash against Sajid Khan and Akshay Kumar’s Housefull, slated to release on the very same date.

Its too early to confirm if the two would indeed clash and either Housefull or Kites could be postponed by a few weeks as Prakash K Jha’s Rajneeti too is slated for release a week later on May 28th.

With increasing number of multiplexes and screens though, there is enough space for both Kites and Housefull to witness a same day release, yet survive the clash, as both films belong to different genres – Romance / Action and comedy.

In the past, biggies like Gadar – Lagaan, Taare Zameen Par – Welcome have clashed and all four films have made heaps of money at the box office.

If the clash does happen, it will be very interesting as both films are very important for both the industry and the stars. Kites would be Hrithik’s first release in 2 years and Housefull would be Akshay’s first release of the year, after a rather disappointing 2009.
