Akshay Kumar was spotted with his leading lady Ileana D’Cruz on the sets of their upcoming film ‘Rustom’, which is still scheduled to release during the ‘Independence Day’ weekend in August this year.
While there have been reports of the film getting preponed by a week, sources close to the film have refused to confirm the same.
Rustom will be Akshay’s third release of the year after Airlift (which released in January and did very well) and his biggest film of the year Housefull 3 – which is scheduled to hit screens a week after the IPL.

For me the top 5 names in that list reiterates the known fact that SRK, Salman, Amir, Ajay and Akshay have always been the top 5 stars and still are today. For me if u can get a festival release date it means u r big enough a star and coming with a big enough movie. That is one proof of stardom for me.
Amir has fewer coz he did fewer movies. AD could easily have had 15 plus but we know he kept on doing a mix of both commercial and off beat movies throughout his career.
Hrithiks festival releases will also shoot up in a few years.

i am a hritik fan and eagerly waiting for MD.but also like akshoy kumar and rustom looks a good movie.but a movie like MOHENJODARO deserve a solo relealse.MD has every ingredients to create history.so i request to rustom team to pre/postpone rustom.it will be good for both movie.

Eid isn’t lucrative season before Salman Khan arrived with wanted and Dabangg. In 90’s where didn’t need festival release coz content always favors that time but nowadays totally opposite.

90s simply belonged to Salman he was getting big dates…Ajay and Srk at par with sane volume of release or there about..
2000s..without a doubt simply belonged to Akshay Kumar… He was at the top of his game and his yield into commercial movies paid off as you can see… The ones following him next are Ajay Srk Salman with 4-5movies less…
2010s…Salman on top speed… Srk follows with Ajay next…it’s been an outstanding decade for Salman..!! the rest are still going to continue their runs and hope all of them prosper well.

About Ajay agreed he would have had more to his name instead he rejected many commercial movies to experiment with less expensive art movies.. and as a result.. It paid off… 2 national awards says it all about him. The very year he decided to do big commercials esp 2010… one trial… 5 movies.. 4 successful ones… He easily bagged d most profitable superstar of the year. Though must admit he overstepped… Esp with craps like Tezz,Himmatwalla and AJ but am happy he already created his identity long time ago and fans still trust him.
For Akshay.. I know Housefull will be amongs the top grossers of d year… But am anticipating for Rustam. Its looks and 1st poster already..created lots of thrills.

As far as the issue of “sensibility” of SRK fans is concerned I wouldn’t agree that SRK fans are any less sensible than fans of any other fan group. Yes there would be 3/4 SRK fans who make illogical comments but u would find the same kind of fans in other fan groups also. Recently read a Ajay fan saying that SRK should now start playing role of father, similar comment from a hrithik fan and one Salman fan saying that after Raees, SRK will join likes of Aftab and Tushar. And I read way too many comments like that to assume that there are only few fans of other stars who make such stupid comments. Easily they comprise a large majority of their fan clubs.
More than the sensibility issue I have observed that it is the issue of “alliances” here which create that impression. For example have seen fans of Amir and Ajay having an alliance (formal or informal) here with Salman fans. As far as Hrithik and Akshay fans are concerned some of them would remain neutral but and some would take potshots at SRK alongwith Salman/Amir/Ajay fans. So on one side u have a large number of fans bashing SRK and on one side u would see SRKians only. So easy to create an impression that it is the SRKians who are being senseless.
Have seen not once but a number of times that a Salman fan would pass a ridiculing/stupid comment against SRK and an Ajay/Amir fan would overlook it in fact support it. But when SRK fan would say a similar stupid thing against Salman you would see a Ajay fan immediately asking him to have sense and correct him.
Regarding SRK vs Salman fans I am yet to come across one single Salman fan who wholeheartedly acknowledges the achievements of SRK. Not one single fan. If any person would at all slightly praise SRK he would immediately follow up with a sarcastic remark. Is SRK that poor an achiever? I dont think so. That just shows as a whole how sensible Salman fans are but u wont see an Amir or Ajay fan talking about their “lack of sensibility” because of again that formal or informal alliance here. And vice versa u wont see Salman fan saying anything against Amir or Ajay fan.
Not complaining here or anything but just sharing all this because I keep reading about SRK fans having less sense and dont agree at all with it (except for 3/4 fans as I said which u will find everywhere). For me more of an “alliances” issue here from what it looks apparently.
I have been here for a year only so may be those observations are wrong. Anyways it is not something which deserves this long talk so apologies for this long comment. @ aisha at 10:29 pm : As far as the discussion of who was ahead in 1990s, 2000s and 2010s is concerned, with due respect, I have honestly always found it a boring topic. So no comments on that.
Would just say that overall was pleased to see those five familiar names at the top of that list. Not a co-incidence that their names keep coming up at top in different lists. I think these five have probably another 6-7 years but sooner or later they will have to make way for Hrithik (already a huge superstar) and the likes of Ranveer, Ranbir, Varun etc. But it would be a fabulous 30 years at least for those 5 actors before they eventually slow down which is one huge achievement as all five started almost at the same time.
As far as Ajay is concerned lots and lots of respect for him and really looking forward to his both Shivay and Baadshaho. Expecting both to score huge at box office and bring Ajay further up the box office ladder. He has signed probably a third one also starring Suraj Pancholi and directed by Remo D Souza but not much idea about it as of now.

I never meant “who is ahead in terms of Stardom” noop.. When I say “belonged to” I meant actors with highest number of Edx releases those decades…then the next 2. As you pointed out “Ajay should have had more than 15 “..same thing.. I reflected too to volume/quantity of Edx releases. So am not talking about who was ahead in terms of stardom rather those who got the privileges of getting lots of Edx those decades.
About ahead.. Be it one decade, 2, 3,4 or half…no one will snatch Salman Srk and Aamir thrones those decades.

But I think festive releases hardly made any difference say before 2007.
Today it’s nearly impossible for any movie releasing outside of EDX to become a HGOTY but back then this wasnt the case!
Reason why
2000: KNPH HGOTY Non Festive
2001:Gadar HGOTY Non festive,Lagaan,Indian other hits of that year ..All non festive
2002:Devdas HGOTY,followed by Raaz both non festive.
2003: KMG HGOTY,followed by KHNH,The hero,baghban,munnabhai MBBS none of them festive releases.
2004:Apart from Veer Zara,4 out of top 5 films of that year were non festive releases.
2005: No entry HGOTY,Non festive release followed by bunty aur babli,Mangal Pandey all non festive releases.
2006:Dhoom 2 HGOTY,followed by LGRMB and Krrish..All non festive releases.
It’s only after 2006,that festive releases came into the scenario what with OSO,Welcome,TZP doing brilliantly! And it all changed with Ghajini and then with Dabangg.
Now,even in first case scenario a Salman movie will do 170-180crs on Eid which is sufficient for it to be the 2nd/3rd grosser of the year.Moreover these films get 2-3 open week with no competition whatsoever.Business today mostly depends on the initial unlike the early years of previous decade.
