Airlift has rock-solid on Day 4 at the box office, recording the highest Monday collections for a film starring Akshay Kumar in the lead – after Rowdy Rathore and Holiday.
The film is now certain to be a clean-hit at the very least at the box office and should comfortably cross the 100 crore mark.
Airlift was phenomenal on Monday, with several centres recording higher occupancy as compared to Friday – which is a sign that the film is carrying arguably the best word-of-mouth for a Akshay Kumar film since Rowdy Rathore in 2012.
The 5-day extended weekend business is likely to be close to the 70 crore mark and the first week business should cross 80 crore.

Tue will at least be 17 crores…Good going…only issue next week is not mastizaade as it targets a diff set of audience – it will be saala khadoos…looks very good and will be targeting same audience – multiplexes in tier 1 cities…Hope both can co-exist ! Was waiting for this..checking boi every 15 mins but finally as they say sabra ka fal…so here is a big news boi expected today a growth of 30-60% and if it was at the above level i.e. 60% then movie will be huge nd will surpas jai ho week 1 but nw the growth has come and that too above the expected levels i.e above the upper limit of expectation i.e.70% somewhat like chappar phaad k…sheer unthinkable stuff..so this is what boi has to say…
Airlift looks set to go back to its Sunday levels on the holiday for Republic Day on Tuesday. The collections will be around 17 crore nett. The collections in mass circuits are at the same level and even a little higher at some centres and if this is repeated in the big city multiplexes then the total will be similar to Sunday. If the 17 crore nett materializes than it will be a huge 70% growth on the holiday,
This will take the business of the film close to 70 crore nett ensuring the highest first week collections for an Akshay Kumar starrer which at the moment is the 75 crore of Rowdy Rathore. The ticket rates will come down on Wednesday so it is actually more like a Monday for the film.
But with nearly 70 crore nett on the board already the film has chances to beat the first week total of Jai Ho (83.50 crore nett) which is the highest total recorded in Republic day week. Basically Airlift on course to beat last years Republic holiday release Baby (82 crore) in one week.
Airlift has come into its own expect alot of screens to be retained in week 2 no w expect a total close to 8-9cr tomorrow and week 1 shall be 85+ humongous indeed..2nd weekend will mean alot as it will decide how big the movie will be as it is going to be a big one as it is but howbig it can turn out to be..why are these nonsensical movies like kkhh3 and mastizaade releasing they are definitely eating/going to some chunk of business..but airlift shall come high with flying colors…expecting a 40cr week 2 min..as long as something drastic doesn happens..after week 2 the movie can be anywhere between 125-135 and then settle for a lyftym of around 160-165…giving it an atbb status or bb to the least..#Airlift
