Airlift has done well on its opening day at the box office, collecting Rs 12.35 crore on Day 1. The collections are on-par (probably a little above) of what was expected out of the film prior to release.
The word-of-mouth is excellent. Exhibitors inform that the audience has responded positively to the film and the occupancy grew quite significantly towards the end of the day yesterday.
On Saturday morning, Airlift has recorded higher occupancy as compared to Friday, especially at multiplexes in cities. Centres in Mumbai city were about 10% above yesterday. Other centres in the NCR region and Bangalore have also held on strongly today.
The fate of Airlift is dependent on how well it trends over the course of the weekend. Last year, Baby picked up by around 20% on Saturday. Airlift would have to show similar growth if it has to record a 42-43 crore weekend.

Airlift looks set to emerge a winner as it had good collections on its second day of around 14.50 crore nett. The first day collections were fair but the second day is good. More importantly the trend is excellent with growth going near 35%. Although it does not mean much with only a dud like Wazir released so far, Airlift may possibly emerge the first hit of the year.
The growth is solid across all big city multiplexes. This is as important as some films get huge growth on strength of high ends. The mass pockets are not great but good growth in the likes of Surat and Lucknow which are important A centres, it can get away with it as it dos not need to go towards 200 crore to be a winner.
The two day business will be around 25.50 crore nett and will easily go over 40 crore nett depending on the Sunday growth. If mass can go to high levels on Sunday it will be a huge bonus and then the film could even go for a big number.

Working with Rajkumar irani got him in that league…Aamir has had so many flops in 90s and disasters that i dont want to name…I understand DG was unconventional but even if salman waves his hand in the most unconventional movie, he will make sure the movie crosses at least 50 crores…no movie of his will wrap below 20…srk is bit low but his consistency over last 25 years is impeccable – what does aamir have to match his consistency ? regarding hrithik, he is the only actor from 2000 generation whose movie crossed 200 crores and guess what he has 10 more years left. his stardom did not come at age of 45 like aamir who in major part of his career was always ranked as someone below srk and salman…

Airlift 2 days box office collections: 12.35 + 16.73 Crores = 29.08 Crores. Day 3 (Sunday) should be appx 20 Crores. Tuesday again (Republic Day) should be same as Sunday. Airlift’s First week is heading for 90 Crores plus. 2nd Saturday should see it cross 100 Crores net in India.
Airlift to better Agneepath and also Akshay’s own Rowdy Rathore. Word of mouth is extremely positive. 9.6 rating on IMDB. If the Indian audiences have learnt their lessons after ignoring classy Baby last year, sky is the limit for Airlift. I’m betting on 135 Crores plus for Airlift.

Watched Airlift yesterday. This type of film have never been made in India. A true story filmed in a true way without any bollywoody masala. Only Akshaykumar has the courage of doing this type of film without thinking about the SOCALLED 100 Cr.+ business. This is his lifetime performance till date. This is a tribute to the Republic Day of India

And Indicine ! Why are so bothered about the 100 Crore business. This is not your headache. Leave it to the producer, director,hero & heroine only. You concentrate about the quality of a movie. If a film does not made 100 Cr. business, it does not mean that the film has failed. In a very poor film like Dilwale, Sharukh grabbed the best actor award in Stardust or Screen Award. Highly riduculous. It has crossed the 100 Cr. mark also which it actully does not deserve at all. But I think you are very happy with Dilwale business as it has the great Indian Mahapurus(!!!!!) like Sharukh. The last Khan(3 Khans) film which was very good was Tare Zamin Par. They are great manipulator & good purchaser of the media & hall-tickets. In any way Gadar is much better than Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
Films like BABY & DRISHYAM have not done 100 Cr. business is not shameful fact. It is unfortunate, that these films should be viewed by more viewers. The last good movie by Sharukh was Swadesh.
