Ajay Devgn’s Action Jackson has collected Rs 9.26 crore on its opening day at the box office. As per estimates, more than 45% of business has come from single-screens. The response at multiplexes throughout the day was poor.
In comparison, Ajay’s last release Singham Returns was way ahead due to the film being a sequel, director Rohit Shetty and holiday for Independence Day. But even if the first day business of Action Jackson is compared to films like Himmatwala (Rs 11 cr) and Satyagraha (11.21 crore), Action Jackson has under-performed on higher number of screens.
Mass centres (where the film did well on Day 1) have dropped on Saturday, and unless multiplexes pick up towards the end of the day, the second day business of Action Jackson will either be lower or around the same level as Friday.
Like Kill Dil, Happy Ending and Ungli, the opening of Action Jackson is way too low for the film to have any chance at the box office. It would have to show growth in the range of 30-35% on Day 2 for it to have any chance of going on to be a fairly decent grosser.
