There have been a lot of confusion and speculation around Aamir Khan’s association with Incredible India’s ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ campaign. The actor has now confirmed that the contract with the agency had expired and the agency has decided not to renew the contract.
Aamir Khan’s Statement:
“It has been an honour and a pleasure for me to be the Brand Ambassador for the Incredible India campaign for the past 10 years. I was happy to be of service to my country, and will always be available for it. I would like to clarify that all public service films I have done till date have all been free of any cost to me. It is always an honour for me to be of service of my country, and this is how it will always be.
It is the prerogative of the government to decide whether they need a brand ambassador for any campaign, and if so, who that ambassador should be. I respect the decision of the government to discontinue with my services. I am sure they will take all appropriate steps to do what is best for the country. Whether I am brand ambassador or not, India will remain Incredible, and that’s the way it should be.”
Union Minister Dr Mahesh Sharma said “Our contract was with the McCann Worldwide agency for ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ campaign. The agency had hired Aamir for the job. Now the contract with the agency is over. Ministry has not hired Aamir. It was the agency which has hired him. Since the contract with the agency is no more, automatically the arrangement with the actor no longer exists”

There is no need to relate it with Amir’s intolerance statement. Please note that “Contract was over” and “Amir has not been sacked”. He did a commendable job as long as he was a face of Incredible India and hope, his succeeders will continue his legacy.

Wonder why the two so called national icons(Aamir & SRK) never spoke against terrorism.. The two have huge fan base across the boarder, who are their ardent followers and also co-religionists.. Their one call could have turned many such illiterate, brainwashed fools.. Who r ready to die for the sake of jihad & 72 ..these two never became that political & social enough to comment on terrorism which India & world facing badly… But become very sociopolitical when 1-2 condemnable incidents happen with one religionists
I’m a srk fan, but also aamir fan. I support both and it’s a shame to see how medias have treated them only because of one statement takent out of context. Proud to be an srkian and a fan of Aamir !

Do they have guts to talk about the Islamic extremists and their foolness & illiteracy…they have huge fan base, who r their coreligionists but badly radicalized… Did they ever try to better them for the sake of humanity… Did they ever comment about them in order to better them… Guess either they don’t hv guts or they don’t wanna lose the fan base or they are party to their thinking too… So don’t portray them as greats, icons.. Incredible is for tourists who are outside India! the brand ambassador should be for the person known internationally!!! Amitabh bachchan is famous only in india!!! i dont understand the choice anyways life goes on!!!!
Appreciate his efforts in promoting India abroad through his ads or films. Still remember his Lagaan when it released and then the Indian Cricket Teams tour to England the following yr in 2002- Lagaan got the english natives hooked to Bollywood for a brief period but sadly Aamir took a long break in subsequent yrs n that momentum was lost.

I saw this coming after Intolerance remark. Honestly speaking if Aamir continued to be brand ambassador, people won’t take the campaign seriously. Every good thing come to an end, it’d indeed a proud moment for Aamir to represent that campaign long time successfully.
Wish Aamir didn’t said those words about intolerance of India, he has made many haters and hurt feeling of many Indians.

It’s better to take 4 crores per episode and do Satyamev Jayate, rather than taking 6-8 crores per episode and do shows like ZorKaJHatka, PaanchviPaas etc. All were flops. ?

Aamir took India to oscars and BAFTA, he made a show called Satyamev jayate by refusing film offers.
He always made quality films unlike other actors.
All that was for nothing. Bcoz this ehsaan faramosh desh thinks Aamir should be grateful for their meherbaani. As if Aamir’s hardwork, dedication and sincerity didn’t play any role.

Coming to the Aamir Khan issue now… Imagine a Coca Cola brand ambassador doing a fabulous campaign and market the product.. But outside publically he abuses the product with the best of his abilities… Will Coca Cola personnels would be fine to retain him as a brand ambassador… However comparing Coca Cola and India is not at all fair, how can it be fair to compare a mere product with a real great nation India…but I took the liberty to make u fools understand this.. But the Shameless Aamir here not abused a mere product but labelled India as intolerant.. The brand ambassador of India calling India intolerant… How would world take it… Still his shameless chamchas want him to be the ambassador…

Even some politicians & media were bashing him without watching his INTERVIEW
He didnt say
INDIA is INTOLERANT but he said
‘The amount of intolerance witnessed in the last few months only.’
HE also SAID
“Why should I be representing anyone? Secondly, I have to represent anyone, why not everyone? Why Muslims? My birth may be in a Muslim household, but I speak for everyone.”
He has spoken against ISIS in the same interview but guess WE are too blinded by hate to read the whole thing.
After doing all this, they are only proving his point.
