Yash Raj Films’ has announced their next biggie ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ for the Diwali weekend in 2018. The release period is interesting because Aamir Khan has dominated the Christmas weekend with films like Taare Zameen Par (2007), Ghajini (2008), 3 Idiots (2009), Dhoom 3 (2013) and PK (2014). All films were blockbusters and four out of 5 films were not only the highest grossers of the year, but also the highest grossers of all time.
Ever since the industry got its 3 big festive weekends, Diwali hasn’t really been as lucrative or successful as the Christmas or Eid festive weekends. The Diwali holiday is the biggest day of the year for film business, but very few films have sustained in the long run – both because of lack of holidays and quality of films not being upto expectation.
Given Aamir’s unprecedented success during Christmas, it’s a weekend that he wouldn’t want to let go of. So the announcement of ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ for the Diwali weekend in 2018 does raise quite a few questions:
One, Shah Rukh’s film with Aanand L Rai was announced just a few days before ‘Thugs Of Hindostan’, did Aditya Chopra and SRK mutually decide the release date of their films? Interestingly, in the past, Shah Rukh has never announced the release dates of his films more than 2 years in advance. He had also said he doesn’t like announcing the release of his films before the shooting begins.
Two, did Aamir agree to let go of his most successful release period, more so since Diwali is on November 8 2018 – just 6 weeks before Christmas?
Interesting title ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ not so catchy but different just like Aamir Khan films, I hope title of Both #ETT Sequel and #Thug isn’t final….!
And we all know Oldie Haklu’s track record on Xmas, He has some great movies like Dog 2/FlopWale ?, Only Megastars #SalMir gets solo releases whenever they want and nobody has guts to face them. I am damn sure Either Hirani or Bhansali will clashed their respective movies with this Tiny STARDOMless star or outside chance of Ajay’s #Golmaal4 coz it was supposed to release on Diwali….!
This confirms the fact that SRK had compromised for YRF by postponing Raees, now they are returning the favour. Now hopefully no one will try to clash on Xmas 2018.
2018 is only belong to srk, salman, and aamir the most powerfull stars in the world
2018 will be interesting to see who will win the box office , But bandhua is not a commercial movie . thug is commercial
SRK-ALR drawf film is the costliest n biggest film of srk carear. For those saying its a small film face clash should remember ALR last film TWMR did 150cr without starcast noone dare to think thats why amir left xmas 2018

Sanjay Dutt biopic releasing on xmas 2017 if it not completed in time then early 2018. ALR also great director along with hirani who never dare to clash with srk. 2017 is going to be the game changer of srk happy srk doing good films now bring back trust again

They are making way for Salman and indirectly saying we don’t want to touch him on Eid !!!!!!! I am sure no one will come on Eid 2018 if Salman is coming on it, even if someone books it before Salman they have to move away from it if Salman comes on Eid.
@Prashant Abhishek, I think there is definitely something wrong with your brain. First grow up and understand the business and economics. Both TOH and ALR’S next are big budget movies. Nobody is scared of nobody. Aamir is not the producer rather it’s yrf and it’s their decision to release the movie on christmas. So grow up. Don’t forget srk postponed raees and made way for yrf’s sultan. So stop talking like a child and understand that they are grown up people who know what to do to ensure healthy box office status for both producers’ films. If Aamir wanted he could have announced for Christmas and he wouldn’t mind clashing with srk. Because currently aamir’s star power is way bigger than srk. Like it or not, Aamir is bigger star than srk. So it would be srk who would have to postpone or proponents ALR’s next to make way for Aamir. Do you even have anything called brain? If not then better you don’t comment.

No matter when they release, Salman and aamir movies will always pull audience owing to their incredible skill of script sense. Hope srk’s upcoming movies are content driven too.
