Ever wondered which Hindi film was the first film to do 1 crore net business? Or for that matter the first film to collect 5 crore and 10 crore at the domestic box office?
Way back in the year 1943, Gyan Mukherjee’s Kismet was the first film to collect Rs 1 crore in its entire run at the box office. Starring Ashok Kumar, Mumtaz Shanti and Shah Nawaz, Kimset was produced by the first public limited film company Bombay Talkies.
Bollywood Blockbusters
More than 17 years later, K Asif’s iconic Mughal-e-azam was the first Hindi film to surpass the 5 crore mark. The historic costume drama featured Prithviraj Kapoor as Emperor Akbar, Dilip Kumar as Salim and Madhubala as Anarkali.
The industry had to wait for 15 more years, before Ramesh Sippy’s 1975 All-time-blockbuster Sholay became the first film to cross 10 crore mark. The Amitabh Bachchan – Dharmendra – Hema Malini – Jaya Bachchan starrer was also the first to 15 crore.
And then the ‘KHAN Domination’ began. Apart from Sunny Deol’s Gadar Ek Prem Katha which was first to 75 crores, every milestone was owned by either Salman Khan (25 and 50 crore), Aamir Khan (100, 125, 150, 175, 200, 250, 275, 300, 325 crore) or Shah Rukh Khan (225 crore).

The next milestone to look forward to, will be the film that will cross the 350 crore mark. It won’t be easy, because not only do films need a solo festive release, but other factors like 2-3 major holidays, 2-3 open weeks, along with incredible word-of-mouth.

to begin with 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 70 have not been included (despite being a jump of 50%, 33% 20%, but 225, 250, 275, 300, 325, have been include despite being jumps of 10% or less.
Also the current milestones of aamir have been achieved in the times of ever increasing ticket prices (@8-10% a year which is more or less same as the percentage of jumps) while HAHK crossed 5 milestones in an era wen bollywood had just recovred from a 10 year lull (with MPK) and had average ticket price stuck for a decade and a half.

Milestones should be count like 1,2,4,5,10,25,50,100,150,200,250,300,350,…..
Why 125crs & not direct 150crs after 100crs..? As the film which crossed it(3Idiots) collected that amount(25crs) in just 2 days.
Why 225crs after 200crs…?
when business grown up so huge & movies stared collecting 30crs+ in single day.
In all fields whether its business,cricket or cinema once you cross 100 the window grows upto 50 then after 500 it becomes 100 & after 1000 it goes to 100.
1crs to 2crs need 100% more collection but its not counted in milestone.
But 200crs to 225crs just 12.5% more need & still you taken it as a milestone..?
Strange article & no idea why such a small window taken & on the other hand big milestones neglected.

@ moh movies- its actually 3 i didn’t said about when srk cross hahk but what is my point why best banner Yrf, biggest Superstar Srk, Biggest heroine Madhuri (single handedly grossed 69 with hahk), Karishma, Akshay failed to beat hahk in 1997.
Acording to haters Salman wasn’t main lead in Hahk and search to best directors list of indicine and look Sooraj barjatya’s place there then you can understand how honest is these haters. Ddlj can’t match Hahk even today if anyone have doubt release both movies for one week in theaters. ddlj can run only on Yrf’s Maratha mandir not in other theaters.
Even in todays modern age, multiplex era Dilwale after having Srk, Kajol, Varun, kirti failed to match Salman – Sonam’s Prdp.

Inspite of having content FAN struggled to cross 85 crore inspite of solo release and became FLOP.
Similar scenario film of Salman, Jai Ho did 110 crore in 2014 (120 crore in 2016).
Similar scenario film of Aamir, Talaash did 95 crore in 2012 (110 crore in 2016).
SRK postponed Raees by 6 months like a coward and other producers clarified that they will not move even if Raees clashes with their films :D :D True flopstar.

Gadar was a beast at the box office. Hum Apke hain kaun, 3 idiots,DHOOM 3 and PK are the most amazing MILESTONES. While HAHK made 40cr difference, Pk and dhoom 3 made 50cr difference, while 3 idiot is the father of all milestones hahahaahahahahaha…
Not forgetting Sholay with the most footfalls.
