Drishyam Saturday (Day 2) Box Office Collection

Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam has shown excellent escalation in business on Day 2 at the box office. Even though the opening day collections of the film were on the lower side, growth of around 35% on Saturday gives ‘Drishyam’ a good chance of going on to be a successful film at the box office.

Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam has collected Rs 6 crore at the domestic box office on Day 1, including paid previews on Thursday. The film opened poorly on Friday, but showed decent growth in business towards the end of the day. The remake of Mohanlal’s Malayalam classic with the same title, Drishyam is carrying positive word-of-mouth which should help the film show growth in business on Saturday and Sunday.

Drishyam Preview Shows (Thursday) Box Office Collections

‘Drishyam’ had a limited multiplex release on Thursday evening. Since the movie was always expected to rely on word-of-mouth publicity, preview shows were meant to spread the word out faster that ‘Drishyam’ is a family thriller with strong emotions.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan Second Week Box Office Collections

Bajrangi Bhaijaan has recorded the second highest second week business in the history of the Hindi film industry, with the collections only behind Aamir Khan’s PK which released during Christmas last year. PK collected Rs 95.64 crore in its second week, while Bajrangi Bhaijaan has collected Rs 87.63 crore. The difference is around 8 crore, but PK had the advantage of Christmas – New Year partial holiday period.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan is the 3rd Highest Grosser of All Time

‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ has gone past the lifetime collections of ‘Krrish 3′ to become the 3rd highest grosser of all time. The film is now challenging the records of ’Dhoom 3’ and ‘PK’. Salman Khan now has 3 films in Top 10, joint best with Aamir Khan who also has three films. In the Top 20, Salman has a record 6 films. Since the release of Dabangg in 2010, all Salman films have crossed the 100 crore mark and all films, except ‘Jai Ho’, have attained ‘Blockbuster’ status.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan Second Monday (Day 11) Box Office Collections

Bajrangi Bhaijaan has sustained very well yet again on its second Monday at the domestic box office. The film is looking at a total of around the 10 – 10.25 crore range, which is an excellent hold for 2nd Monday. At multiplexes, the film was running at near 2nd Friday level occupancy levels on 2nd Monday, but the reduced ticket prices has meant that the collections will be on the lower side. The average drop is in the 20-25% range at multiplexes, there are reports that single-screens have shown bigger falls.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan has shown excellent escalation in business on Sunday, with the average growth from Saturday to Sunday at around 10-20% mark. The film is looking at Sunday collections in the range of 23-24 crore, as per early estimates, which is the highest collections of all time on 2nd Sunday.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan vs Dhoom 3: Box Office Collection Comparison

Dhoom is inarguably the biggest franchise in the industry, so the very fact that a film like Bajrangi Bhaijaan has beaten Dhoom 3 on 4 of its first day 6 days at the box office, is a huge achievement. Due to lack of holidays, surpassing Bollywood’s highest grosser of all time might prove to be a difficult task for the Salman Khan starrer, but the Kabir Khan film has every chance of beating Aamir Khan’s Dhoom 3 to become the 2nd highest grossing film of all time.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan has created history at the box office on Day 9 as the film has recorded its sixth 20 crore plus total at the domestic box office. The 9th day collections of ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ is more than the opening day business of all films released in 2015, which includes films like ABCD 2, Gabbar Is Back, Dil Dhadakne Do and Roy.

Update: With figures from night shows coming in, Bajrangi Bhaijaan has shown record breaking growth on 2nd Saturday. The film is now looking at a total of 18 crore plus. This is humongous because Bajrangi Bhaijaan is set to record higher collections than both Dhoom 3 and PK on their respective second Saturday’s. At a Mangalore multiplex, the film collected Rs 1,48,030 on Friday, compared to Rs 2,73,140 i.e nearly 84% growth. A exhibitor from Valsad, Gujarat, says the film has grown by nearly 3 times on Saturday. Bajrangi Bhaijaan has shown excellent growth in business on Saturday. While the morning shows were at around the same level as yesterday (2nd Friday), the film has showed excellent growth evening onwards. The film is looking at a total of around Rs 18-19 crore, depending on how well the night shows perform at multiplexes on Saturday.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan Wednesday (Day 6) Box Office Collections

Bajrangi Bhaijaan is enjoying a dream run at the domestic box office. The film is running on a record number of shows at multiplexes, and even after 5 hugely successful record-breaking days, Bajrangi Bhaijaan was running at close to 50-60% occupancy on its 6th day. As per early estimates, the film has collected around 18-19 crore on Wednesday. The average drop at centres that we have tracked is around 10-15% from Tuesday.
