IndicineLBO: Dilwale and Bajirao Mastani Lifetime Prediction

There were two films releases last weekend. One film had arguably the biggest star cast of 2015 in a genre that was expected to hold universal appeal. The other was expected to take a slow start and perform well in a couple of states if the word-of-mouth was nothing less than excellent.

Dilwale Total Collections in 4 days

Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale has shown a bigger than expected decline at the domestic box office on Monday. For the first time, the film has dropped below the collections of the other release last weekend, Bajirao Mastani. In previous clashes, Om Shanti Om was always ahead of Saawariya and Jaan-e-Mann never managed to beat Don. In 2012, Son Of Sardaar did manage to beat Jab Tak Hai Jaan, but it was only on the 7th day i.e after the holiday period was over. Also, both films received a mixed response. Bajirao Mastani Total Collections in 4 days

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani is set to win the much-hyped box office clash, as the epic historical has sustained very well at the box office on Monday. The film has now collected Rs 57.03 crore in just 4 days. Quite a few people in the trade who we spoke to prior to the release of the film, had feared that the Ranveer Singh starrer might finish below the 70 crore mark. The fact that the film has already collected nearly 60 crore in 4 days is in itself a big win.

Dilwale India, Overseas, Worldwide Box Office Collections

Dilwale has opened to outstanding numbers in the overseas markets, further establishing Shah Rukh Khan as arguably the biggest crowd-puller outside the domestic market. Inspite of competition from Star Wars: The Force Awakens (a record money-spinner globally) and our very own Bajirao Mastani, Dilwale has recorded the second highest opening weekend of all time, only behind the 2013 film Dhoom 3.

Dilwale is the 11th highest weekend grosser of all time

Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale is the 11th highest weekend grosser of all time and the 2nd highest weekend grosser when two films clash at the box office. Hrithik Roshan’s Bang Bang which released last year with Shahid Kapoor’s Haider, collected Rs 71.72 crore in its first weekend – although it had two holidays, instead of one for Dilwale.

Dilwale First Weekend Box Office Collections

Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale has collected Rs 65.09 crore in its first weekend at the box office, which is very good when you consider the fact that the film was up against Bajirao Mastani (which is carrying excellent reports) and also the disruption in screens in different parts of the country.

Bajirao Mastani First Weekend Box Office Collections

Bajirao Mastani has collected Rs 46.78 crore in its first weekend at the box office, showing growth of 21% on Saturday and 19% on Sunday, inspite of competition from a big film like Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale. The film is carrying excellent word of mouth, which should ensure a strong hold on Monday and possibly good collections for the remaining weekdays too.

Bajirao Mastani, Dilwale 3rd Day Box Office Collections

Bajirao Mastani has shown phenomenal growth in business on Sunday, what with collections of the film set to come in the 18 crore range. The Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed film picked up by around 20% on Saturday and then again by 20-25% on Sunday, giving the film a very good weekend of around 47 crore in India.

Highest Saturday Collections of 2015

This is the final list of Highest Saturday Collections for the year 2015. The most acclaimed film of 2015, Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan tops the list. The second day (Saturday) was a national holiday for Eid. The second in the list Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, which collected Rs 31.05 crore on a partial holiday in parts of the country. The third highest Saturday is another national holiday for Independence Day, when Akshay Kumar’s Brothers collected Rs 21.43 crore.

Dilwale, Bajirao Mastani Day 3 (Sunday) Box Office Update

Dilwale is showing positive signs on Day 3 at the box office. At most places that we tracked, the collections until 5PM on Sunday was at around the same level as Friday or a little higher. At quite a few multiplexes, the film is witnessing close to 95-100% occupancy, but the limitation of shows is holding it back in several cities. Unless there is further growth in business in the night, the film is looking at net collections of somewhere around 22-23 crore on Sunday.

Bajirao Mastani 2nd Day Box Office Collections

Bajirao Mastani has performed very well on its 2nd day at the box office, accumulating a good total of Rs 15.52 crore net. Ideally, this is where the starting point of the film should have been, but growth of 22% from Friday is a positive trend.

Dilwale takes record breaking opening in UAE GCC

Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale has taken a record breaking start in UAE GCC,  recording the highest opening of all time. The film has collected around 3,300,000 dirhams (a little less than $900,000 as per estimates) on Thursday. The collections are higher than Hollywood film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens which has collected around $500,000 – $550,000.

Bajirao Mastani Box Office Opening

Bajirao Mastani has taken a fair start at the box office on Friday, but given the budget of the film, it has plenty of ground to cover in the next few days just to recover costs.
