In fact, the Hollywood film is performing well at smaller centres too, where even the biggest Hindi success of the year – Airlift – did not perform very well.

Ki and Ka has sustained reasonably well in its second weekend at the box office, but the film was affected by ‘The Jungle Book’ wave at multiplexes across the country. The film has collected Rs 8.24 crore in its second weekend, showing decent growth both on Saturday and Sunday. The 10-day total now stands at Rs 46 crore. The ‘role reversal’ film will cross the 50 crore mark by the end of the second week and will finish with lifetime business of around 53-55 crore.

The morning show occupancy of ‘The Jungle Book’ was higher than the biggest Hindi release so far this year – ‘Airlift’ – which also goes to show that Hollywood films have already started challenging the biggest of Hindi releases at multiplexes in cities.

Ki and Ka was steady on the lower side on Day 8 at the box office. Because it was holiday in parts of the country, the film was expected to hold at higher levels on its 2nd Friday, but business was affected because of the release of ‘The Jungle Book’.

So if we balance out the factors and negate the holiday advantage, Gunday would have opened to around 10.5 crore on a non-holiday Friday and 2 States would have collected somewhere around 8 crore.
