Veteran actor Govinda, who will be playing Ranbir Kapoor’s father in Anurag Basu’s Jagga Jasoos, has been roped in to play Alia Bhatt’s father in Vikas Bahl’s next film Shandaar.
The actor who was last seen in Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty, is said to be playing a comical character in the film.
Confirming the news, a source close to the production said “Govinda is ready to play a father now because he knows that he cannot play, or get the romantic roles he did during the 90s.”
“It’s a comic role though not a large one. But Govinda responded positively to the script. He is perfect for the part and is quite excited about it as well” a source added.
However when contacted, Govinda refused to reveal anything about his role. “I’ve received a narration. It would be unprofessional to divulge any details at this point” he said.
Also starring Shahid Kapoor, Shandaar is a destination wedding film. The film is said to be shot extensively in Europe.
