Aamir Khan’s Dhoom 3 has smashed all records in its first week at the box office, but the film still has a fair distance to cover before it can go past the lifetime business of Shahrukh Khan’s biggest grosser Chennai Express.
Produced by Yash Raj Films, Dhoom 3 released on a non-holiday but benefitted from a holiday on its 6th day. On the other hand, Chennai Express released on a holiday and enjoyed a good run in the post-Eid period.
Dhoom 3 vs Chennai Express
While CE had competition from big to medium budget films like Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara (from Day 6), Madras Cafe (third week) and Satyagraha (4th week), Dhoom 3 has absolutely no competition from any major release in the next couple of weeks.

Chennai Express crushed completely by Aamir
Dhoom 3 owns part of its success to the Dhoom brand name. But I salute Aamir Khan’s honesty to report real collections of Dhoom 3. There is only a difference of 5 crores between YRF and BOI figures (Those 5 crores were manipulated in first weekend by YRF to just show that Dhoom 3 made 100 crores in 3 days while BOI says 95 crores). Without competition Chennai Express would have made 250 crores, while Dhoom 3 has no competition for 3 weeks.

@wow man:undoubtedly lootera is one of the best movies of bollywood history.also it will remain as my alltime fav film.
But no need to compare it with k3 and d3.beause though k3 n d3 are nowhere near lootera,but these films like k3 n d3 are improving the standrd of bollywood.about ce,it’s a very average film.nothing great in it.

@remotecontrol just checked boi today and see d3 hindi language collection stand on 184cr in 8 days they are not including regional collection in those figures and from producers figure d3 collected 189-190cr in 08 days. Yaar atleast give excuse with honesty.
