Chennai Express collected a record-breaking Rs 19.6 crore on its 7th day at the box office, with more than Rs 6 crore coming from Mumbai circuit alone. Below is the territorial breakdown of the film.

- Rajasthan – 1.16 crore
- Nizam/Andhra – 1.29 crore

- West Bengal – 1.05 crore
- Bihar – 0.45 crore
- Assam – 0.12 crore
- Orissa – 0.22 crore
- Tamilnadu/Kerala – 0.91 crore
- Total – 19.6 crore
Note: Thursday was a National Holiday for Independence Day, but Chennai Express faced competition from Balaji Motion Pictures’ Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobaara.

Chennai Express Beats Ek Tha Tiger First Week Record
Chennai Express has beaten the first week business of Ek Tha Tiger with collections around 139 crore nett not including the paid previews. The first seven days saw Ek Tha Tiger collect 128 crore nett. The collections for the extended first week are also better for Chennai Express with around 145 crore nett in seven days plus paid previews while Ek Tha Tiger collected 143 crore nett in nine days. The top first week collections (7 days) are as follows.
1. Chennai Express – 139 crore nett
2. Ek Tha Tiger – 128 crore nett
3. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani 105 crore nett
4. Bodguard – 100 crore nett
5. Dabangg 2 – 99 crore nett
