Akshay Kumar has four 100 crore grossers in his career (Check out: Actors with most 100 crore grossers) and his latest release ‘Housefull 3’ has every chance of becoming his 5th.
While the film is unlikely to become the highest grosser of his career (Rowdy Rathore – 134 crore), it’ll be interesting to see if Housefull 3 can beat Holiday and Housefull 2.
Akshay has been fairly consistent at the box office, but his big films – even with favourable release periods like Independence Day (Brothers, OUATIMD) and Post IPL (Holiday, Housefull 3) – have failed to take it to the next level like Rowdy Rathore did in 2012.
Adjusting for inflating and rise in the number of multiplexes, Rowdy Rathore’s 134 crore is probably worth 160 crore or more if it happened to release in 2016 (although the genre – Masala and south remake – is not as hot as it was back in 2012).
Rowdy Rathore was big in every way – the open was outstanding (exceeded expectations), the trend was excellent and the film was a huge grosser – even though it released 2 months after Housefull 2 – rubbishing the theory of back-to-back releases affecting business.
That biggie, which pushes the limit of non-festive releases, is something that Akshay has failed to achieve with all his subsequent releases. Housefull 3 was expected to be that big film and there is still a chance, but it looks difficult at this point in time.

Im big akki fan… Bt still fnt knw hw people lk rawdy rathode. Sonakshi jumping on kurkure packet giving heart attack to a fat man. Akshay does chinta chinta on his chest n he wakes up. Sonkshi fall in love with him there n mesnwhile akshay steal jewlary from fat man…. jst 1 example of numorous stupid things in it.
Mohenjodaro will thrash Rustom. Mark my words!

Nowadays audience wants something new ,they can’t accept movies like dilwale,Hny, prdp.
If all these 3 movies would have release on non holiday, I can guarantee all would have finished on 125 .
With this type of genre which is dying, housefull 3 has done quite well on non holiday !

@Flop kumar if a movie made on 45 crore like airlift does 100 plus nd a movie like HNY made on 150 crore does 175 on festival than which movies is more Beneficial? Which movie did Well for the producers nd distributors?

Holiday deserved a blockbuster status.One of the finest action thrillers in recent times.Had they cast Vidyut and the songs had clicked the collections would have been better.
Please Akki, shift Rustom, don’t ruin Mohenjodaro’s chances of becoming the highest grosser of the year/of all time!

I strongly disagree!! Masala genre was the most popular genre during 2010-2012 .
Now a days, people are tired of these typical deshi masalas..
And now a days, those films which get highly poor ratings from critics, usually suffer from more difficulties.. Remember Action Jackson? Rawdy Rathore’s reviews were slightly ahead of/on par with Action Jackson.. If Rawdy Rathore had released in today’s time, it would have trolled all over the social media and it would have been considered as outdated as well.. Opening would be too good, but trend would be way behind..

The business done by RR in 2012 is simply phenomenal to say the least . It is still Akshay’s Highest Grosser after 4 years . But honestly RR is the weakest movie if compared with H2, Airlift and Holiday . In 2012 Masala Genre was at its peak and this was a huge reason for the Blockbuster Success of RR . Airlift had the Best Chance to beat RR but it fell short by 6 CR . H3 had the potential to beat RR – Successful Franchise, Post IPL Period, Akshay coming back after Airlift and no tough competition from 2 weeks . Looking at the current trend it is looking very tough for H3 to beat RR . 2 Back to Back Non Holiday 100 Grossers in 5 months is really good to say the least . This will be Akshay’s 5th 100 CR Grosser and Rustom has the potential to be 6th . If Rustom is postponed than it will have a bright chance to do well in the long run . The Clash with MD will result in less screens in both Multiplexes and Single Screens . It is a Romantic Thriller based in 1950’s so it will have a story to tell . In the next 2 weeks it will be 100 % confirmed whether Rustom releases on 12th August or not . !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Holiday was a bad film according to me.. People sometimes get moved by its theme and that is the reason why people praise it a lot.. Holiday was a movie with an irritating Sonakshi who got completed wasted and a laughable screenplay!!
Akki is running out of time. Please take my advice and start sitting infront of @indicine office in Mumbai. They might help you post your pics while you begging and that would definitely help you get some money from Khan’s. ???
The movie underperformed. No excuses,if it was Srk it would have been the talk of the town. What amuses me is these little star fans bashing Fan when released. Now they feel bad others bashing akshay kumar. It will be the biggest upset of the year of Housefull 3 collects just 5 cr more than Housefull 2. Any thing less is a dent in his stardom and will really affect Rustam collections.
