‘The Jungle Book’ has shown phenomenal growth at the box office in India, recording collections in excess of Rs 13.5 crore on Day 2. The jump in business from Friday to Saturday is way better than a film like ‘Airlift’ which rose by 18%, while ‘The Jungle Book’ has grown by 34% on Saturday.
On Sunday, the occupancy continued to very high both for the morning and noon shows at cities. The advance booking for the evening is incredibly high, so the film is certain to record business in excess of 15 crore on Sunday. The first weekend business could touch 40 crore, second only to the Rs 44.30 crore total of Airlift.
Last year, Fast and Furious 7 collected Rs 36.55 in its first weekend. ‘The Jungle Book’ is all set to surpass the record set by the Vin Diesel film last year.

I watched it yesterday and it’s really a gd movie with extraordinary vfx and engrossing screenplay. Nana patekar as sher khan was brilliant and irrfan as ballu was hilarious. Priyanka rocked in her cameo. I was surprised to see the hindi version going housefull.
Anyways congrats Hollywood for delivering ur 10th 50cr grosser in India. Infact Jungle Book deserves to enter 100cr club. I hope it does but yes, if someone passes cheap comments like “Hollywood is a threat to Bollywood” “Hollywood will destroy indian box office” then that guy won’t v spared by me :)
Next week by this time I would have watched Fan and you would come up with a similar article about Fan’s jump?

3D is just beyond amaizing,this film will be BlockBluster worldwide,VFX is way advanced,really like it,planning on watching it again.
The most surprising thing is that Jungle book is performing brilliant in mass centres of UP,Bihar and Rajasthan what with the Hindi dubbed version recording great occupancy while business of Airlift was restricted to big city multiplexes and it underperformed at mass centres.
Now its definitely going to effect the collections of Fan . Poor Srk , everytime something comes in his way .
Btw its really good that The Jungle Book is doing so well in India . It may would had crossed 100 crores in India but due to Fan it looks difficult .
