Only two films this year have opened to ‘excellent’ occupancy in the morning and both are Hollywood films – ‘Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice’ and ‘The Jungle Book’.
The morning show occupancy of ‘The Jungle Book’ was higher than the biggest Hindi release so far this year – ‘Airlift’ – which also goes to show that Hollywood films have already started challenging the biggest of Hindi releases at multiplexes in cities.
‘The Jungle Book’ is also the only film after ‘Airlift’ to collect more than Rs 10 crore on its opening day in India this year.

Well… quality films always win I suppose. American films are starting to be competitors of bollywood… this worries me
Kapoor and Sons , Ki & Ka response must also be average. Considering the opening day morning and noon occupancy at most plexes was 15 percent to 20 percent .
Airlift response should be excellent as it opened to 30-40 percent. Kapoor and Sons, Ki & Ka should be average to poor.
It will atleast collect 57cr in its life time. If Fan isnt there then it can aim 100 cr in India

Hollywood will always be High in Quality and content than bollywood .
Good collections but it will witness a huge drop from Monday onwards !!!!!!!
But they struggle to compete with lifetime collection. Only 10-11 films hv crossed 50cr mark at Indian bo which has been crossed by around 130 hindi films already. Only 2 in 100cr club while Bollywood has 42 probably. Plus except jungle book and civil war no films can cross the 50cr mark this year. They will continue to score in the 5cr-40cr mark. LOL
So no competition btwn holly & bolly films in my opinion
And it’s not a new phenomena to hv holly films scoring better than bolly films in weekend.
Iron Man3 & Aashiqui2 had clashed with each other where iron man3 won the opening weekend bt lost in the lifetime collection mark by around 30cr. LOL
Same happened during queen v 300 sequel
Avatar in 2009 had scored 75cr itself
So their will always b 1-3 holly films performing like medium scale hit Bollywood films and that’s great news for exhibitors and movie buffs but nothing threatening for our local cinema at all

Time to worry for bollywood . Hollywood movies are challenging hindi movies now . Better they make movies with some originality as people are tired of seeing the same shits again and again . Its proof that movies with high on content are working now . Even Tollywood is now making movies with better class and bigger scale .

if some movies perform well that doesnt mean hwood is overshadowing bwood. there are other reasons like brand sequel etc.if u will look closely the movies which have opened well are mission impossible franchise avengers fast and furious jurassic world and now jungle book for obvious reasons.else hollywood is not a competition for us

Airlift also had a clash with a popular sex comedy..released on 2300 screens and did 12.35crs.
Last year TWMR released on similar no. of screens and did 8.5crs and its opening was categorized as Very Good.
Shah Rukh Khan Confirms and Says that Raees vs Sultan Not Final. There is 2 – 3 Months left before Eid so he and Salman Will Sit and Decide on the film.
While promoting FAN with the media today, Shah Rukh Khan shared the details about the release date of Raees and Sultan and also his insight on the clash between the two major films.
“There is 2 -3 Months left till Eid. We will Sit and Decide and come up with some solution on it” said Shah Rukh Khan today.
Raees releases in theatres during Eid this year alongside Salman Khan’s Sultan. Raees is directed by Rahul Dholakia and co-produced by Farhan Akthar, Ritesh Sidhwani under Excel Entertainment and Shah Rukh Khan – Gauri Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment
The teaser of Sultan will be out online on Thursday, 14th April 2016 and will be attached to the prints of Shah Rukh Khan’s Fan

Hollywood films work only in the cities. Masses don’t care about them. Therefore it is difficult for hollywood to challenge bollywood untill masses accept them.
India is one of the very very few countries where local films are given more importance than hollywood films and I hope this will continue forever.
The Jungle Book is an amaizing film expecting a 30cr weekend,which is awesome,i just wished it had a 2wks free run,but i still think it will affect FAN opening weekend.
