Ki & Ka is Arjun Kapoor’s return to the silver screen after the poor response to ‘Tevar’ and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s return to the silver screen after the super-successful ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’.
The success of Ki & Ka is important to both actors as Arjun doesn’t have a release until ‘Half Girlfriend’ in April next year and Kareena hasn’t signed any big film apart from ‘Udta Punjab’.
Factors in favour of Ki & Ka on Day 1 at the box office:
- The concept of the film is unique, something that has managed to generate quite a bit of curiosity amongst the city audience
- India’s World Cup campaign is over and people could want to get over the depressing end by watching a film in theatre! Also, India’s exit will mean the business of the film will be unaffected on Sunday.
- Director R. Balki has a impressive track record with films like ‘Cheeni Kum’ and ‘Paa’ to his credit.
Factors that are against Ki & Ka:
- R Balki films appeal to a limited section of the audience, Ki & Ka is unlikely to be different.
- The music hasn’t really caught on, except ‘High Heels’ to a certain extent.
- The fate of the film will depend on word-of-mouth.
