Weekly IndicineFBO Update
- Himesh Reshammiya’s Terra Surroor has little or no buzz. The film has been removed from FBO predictions as the collections are expected to be very poor.
- The next big release is Kapoor & Sons starring Sidharth Malhotra, Alia Bhatt and Fawad Khan in the lead. The trailer was received well, the music (especially Kar Gayi Chull and Bolna songs) are also doing well, but there are various other factors that aren’t working in favour of the film. The lack of freshness as far as the cast is concerned and Dharma persisting with a genre that’s no longer finding favour even with the Urban youth.
- Kapoor & Sons will also face tough competition from the T20 World Cup. There are two big non-India matches (South Africa vs England, Australia vs New Zealand) on the day of its release. On Saturday, the biggie India vs Pakistan match starts at 7:30PM. On Sunday too there are two T20 matches. Not to mention the exam season also begins and the target audience could be either busy studying for their exams or writing them. So the key for Kapoor & Sons will be word-of-mouth, as it has to perform very well after its first weekend.
- The trailer of Rocky Handsome has received a mixed response, but the film should take the biggest opening of March as Friday happens to be a holiday for Good Friday. Cricket will continue to affect business as the India v Australia match is scheduled for Sunday (27 March).
- The makers of Ki and Ka have picked a excellent date to release their film. The exam season will continue in some parts of the country, but will end in South India. There is only one cricket match, which also happens to be the T20 World Cup final on Sunday. If India makes it to the final, the impact on business will be huge. But Ki and Ka has two open weeks at the box office. If content finds appreciation, it has every chance of doing well in the long run.
- Finally, Shah Rukh Khan’s FAN has been gaining momentum in the last couple of weeks. The trailer has crossed the 10 million mark on Youtube and the reach has increased quite significantly after the trailer was aired on TV and at theatres. It’s the biggest release of the year so far and should take by far the biggest opening too.

It is more than a month to FAN release,will be interesting to see how their marketing team is able to sustain the buzz without anymore songs or trailer!!

@indicine- so do you mean Tera Suroor would open to less than 1 crore. If so, it’s sad. Going by the trailer, it looks like a decent one time watch. The songs are also fairly popular, especially bekhudi.

Lallu’s highest non holiday opener without multistarrer is Ready. As BB was multistarrer ( Harshali – main hero of the movie ), Kick was also multistarrer ( Randeep huda ) Dabaang 2 ( Arbaaz khan ) and of course Jai ho ( sunil shetty ). So it was Ready ( 10 cr opener ) lol ???????
FAN’s FBO keep increasing, which is a very good sign as I totally trust you Indicine ! I wish success to Kapoor & Sons even if the buzz hasn’t sustained as well as it should have. Rocky Handsome looks pretty good too.
I guess makers of FAN will release a second trailer during any big match in t20world cup.the film is all about FANs I think they’ll plan somthng big during the release cz the whole viewers in stadium are FANs of some one in cricket stars or film stars.it’ll gave a huge boost to film in its opening weekend
