PRDP Day 4 (Sunday) Box Office Collections: Disappoints

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo has underperformed at the box office on Sunday, which is a worrying sign for a film that performed well in its first 3 days. The Sunday business is set to be around 5% lower than Saturday. Most circuits have been steady, but the big jump in business, which you expect on a big holiday like Sunday has been missing.

The Hindi version of PRDP had collected Rs 101.47 crore in its first 3 days. The Sunday business should take the total to around the 130 crore mark.

Monday will now be a big test for the film. Last year, Happy New Year collected Rs 15 crore on its first weekday (4th day after release) and Bajrangi Bhaijaan collected Rs 21 crore on its first non-holiday weekday (5th day after release).

For PRDP, 20 crore plus on Monday would be excellent, but that looks impossible now looking at the way the film has performed on Sunday. A 15 crore Monday would be fairly good too, something that should also ensure that the film would comfortably cross the 200 crore mark at the box office.

But if business happens to fall below the 13 crore mark, then PRDP might struggle to do well in the long run.

The response to the film has been mixed. Youth have rejected the film, but the family audience, especially middle-aged women, have come out in big numbers to watch the Sooraj Barjatya family drama.
