Salman, Sooraj Barjatya talk about their bond and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo

In a newly released video, Bollywood megastar Salman Khan and his good friend and filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya, talk about their experience of working with each other and also their upcoming film ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’.

Salman: Incredible. Writing Maine Pyaar Kiya at the age of 18. Hum Aapke Hain Kaun writing it at the age of 22-23 and the film released when he was 25. Hum Saath Saath Hain, he was 29 when the film released. He’s mad. He’s totally mad. This (Prem Ratan Dhan Payo) I believe, is his best work.

Sooraj: I was very keen that, if we are making a film together once it, then it has to be something exclusive for him, to bring out that side of him that is so vulnerable and so nice. I really wanted that, when one goes to see a Salman Khan film, they should feel that they are evolving into a better person.

Salman: From the time I met Sooraj, till today, he’s the same man. Exactly the same I saw (25 years back). He’s only grown leaps and bounds in the same direction.

Sooraj: To have Salman come at 9 in the morning, everyday, is something that never happens. But it happened this time.

Salman: I was worried about my characters, after the films that I’ve been doing. After Hum Saath Saath Hain, he still worked in that direction. He does these scenes with so much of ease, I have to come back and get this innocence, this niceness back. And then, when I came back on the sets, all that I was doing was following Sooraj.

Sooraj: I went to him with the script, I commercialised the film a little. He heard the script and he says, “Sooraj babu, why are you doing this, let’s do the same time. let’s have the same shyness, laughter, songs and holding the feet of elders.. and I was so surprised that he wanted to make the same kind of film. I was so touched when I came to know that for 4 years, he made no family film. He just said, Sooraj is writing the film (I will only do his family film).

Salman: The only person who I have worked with, who makes you pick up the phone and call home and say.. forget it, let it go.. it’s all good. Only Sooraj Barjatya can make a film that will touch your heart.

Sooraj: Both of us wanted a film which will change lives. The best memories I have is of going home every morning to wake him up at his haveli and over his breakfast, discussing the scenes.

Salman: Every single day was getting to be more like Sooraj Barjatya.

Their 4th film together, filled with all the niceness in the world, romance at its purest and family bonding at its best, releases in theatres on November 12 2015.
