Welcome Back has recorded the 3rd highest opening day of 2015, beating films like ABCD 2 and Gabbar Is Back. The film starring John Abraham in the lead, opened well because the first film in the series was hugely popular and had tremendous recall value even though the last film released in 2007.
Only two films – Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Akshay Kumar’s Brothers – both of which released on significantly higher number of screens, were ahead on Day 1 at the domestic box office.

First day never ever matter for any film. Any film can bring good first day and first weekend with huge promotion and hits songs funda like SRK does with every film.
For example HNY did 40cr on day one and 100cr on weekend with huge promotion and more songs on Diwali and weekend. But after first weekend HNY got down at that level the film should earned. And same are happening/ will be happening with PHANTOM and WELCOME BACK.
Films Lifetime collections always matter, after that nothing matters.
