Brothers passed with UA certificate

Akshay Kumar, Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez starrer ‘Brothers’ has been passed by the Censor Board of Film Certification with a U/A rating. The film was passed after three verbal cuts.

This means, Brothers can be seen by viewers of all ages but it comes with parental guidance for kids below 12 years of age.

According to a reliable source from the film unit, the censor board allowed the usage of the word ‘bastard’ two times

“The cussword ‘bastard’ featured five times in the dialogues in Brothers. Initially, the Censor Board members told director Karan Malhotra to delete all five ‘bastards’. But then the director pointed out that the word had a direct and deep relation to the storyline and to Akshay Kumar and Siddharth Malhotra’s relationship with their screen father Jackie Shroff”

“Pahlaj Nihalani (the chief of the censor board) had a closed-door meeting with the director where Karan Malhotra explained why the word was necessary. He finally allowed the forbidden word in two places in the dialogues.”

Produced by Karan Johar, Brothers is the story of two brothers who are pitted against each other. It is an official remake of the 2011 Hollywood movie ‘Warrior’. The emotional action drama that also stars Jackie Shroff and Shefali Shah, is all set to hit theaters on 14th August.
