Highest Single Day Collections in Bollywood: All Time Records

Happy New Year has destroyed every box office opening record on its first day at the ticket window. The film has not only managed to beat the previous collections of Dhoom 3, but has surpassed it by a huge margin. The first day collections of Happy New Year is Rs 8.75 cr more than the opening day (non-holiday) collections of the Aamir Khan film and Rs 6.94 crore more than the previous highest single day.

It goes without saying that Happy New Year is now officially the biggest opening for a Shahrukh Khan film too. Previous record was held by Chennai Express which also opened to record-breaking figures of Rs 33.12 cr.

It will be interesting to see if Happy New Year can take all the first three spots in its first weekend. It has to collect 38.04 cr or more on Saturday and Sunday to do so. Looking at the opening on Saturday, it should!
