In the Hindi film industry, it’s difficult to make it big without a godfather. Once you do, it’s even harder to retain the top spot. To be at the top of your game for over 2 decades, is no mean achievement and Shahrukh Khan has achieved it all. Bollywood saw its first Superstar in Rajesh Khanna and even he couldn’t escape the universal law of change. Ironically, if there is any other ‘superstar’ who can claim Khanna’s throne, it’s got to be Shahrukh Khan for both of them excel in the Romance-Drama genre.
For Bollywood, the last two decades have been filled with major milestones. The market for Hindi films has grown exponentially the world over. New superstars (Hrithik Roshan, Ranbir Kapoor) have make their debuts. But what’s noteworthy is whenever a superstar creates a record or every time a newcomer makes a dynamic debut, instant comparisons are made with Shahrukh Khan. Both within the industry, the media and fans. It proves that over the course of time, SRK has evolved as a standard in himself.
Shahrukh Khan’s Box Office Recap: From ‘Baazigar’ to ‘Badshah’

1996 | - | The year turns out to be a nightmare for SRK with Chaahat (Flop) and English Babu Desi Mem (Flop). Aamir Khan takes the top spot with Raja Hindustani (All Time Blockbuster) followed by Sunny Deol whose Jeet (Hit) and Ghatak (Hit) acquire 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. Salman Khan sees quite a few winners in Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, Bandhan (Semi Hit) & Jab Pyaar Kisise Hot Hai (Semi Hit). |

After a string of flops, Akshay makes a comeback with Jaanwar (Semi Hit). |

But the year belongs to Hrithik Roshan who makes a dream debut with Kaho Naa Pyar Hai (Blockbuster) and also becomes the first actor to win the Filmfare Best Actor award on debut. His Mission Kashmir, which manages a better opening than Mohabbatein, closes in at 3rd position. |

indicine plz publish next part as early as possible. Please.
@Saurav, second part will be published this weekend. :)
Indi cine did u forget maya mem saab which was released in 1993? It was a landmark movie in srk’s career and the turning point for his stardom & honestly without that movie, there would have been no superstar srk today. Yes, the movie directly didnt make srk a star but his role in that movie was instrumental in him getting the negative roles in other movies in that year, which really gave the necessary fillip to his acting career.
DDLJ, BAAZIGAR, KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI, DARR, RAB NE BANADI JODI (my top 5 all time favourite movies of SRK)
@Archit, Nice job.
Plz also analyse akshay kumar’s career
dear @indicine all SRK movies are special for me , although my top 3 movies are not in the list , but i will pick DDLJ , DTPH , ANJAAM & PARDES
Which is why he’s called King Khan.
:)
Hrithik Roshan beats Shahrukh Khan in desi James Bond poll!
The Krrish star come out on tops in an online poll conducted by BollywoodLife asking film buffs who they would like to see in the desi James Bond avatar If you were asked to choose one Bollywood hero to play James Bond, the one name that would come to your mind instantaneously would be Hrithik Roshan.
The 38-year- old Greek god of B-town has it all take to go 007! Hrithik’s swagger, his towering personality, his youthful charm – bordering on the much needed maturity to play the seasoned secret agent – and his killer looks have worked in the macho star’s favour to be voted as the most deserving desi Bond. Running in the race to win that coveted title in our exclusive poll were Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan, Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal and Anil Kapoor. But Hrithik has won both the hearts and the precious votes of our ardent readers.
The Krrish actor received 41% of the votes. Giving tough competition to the star was Shahrukh Khan (with 28% per cent votes), who had recently expressed his desire to play Bond. Salman Khan won got 13% votes, while Arjun Rampal managed to get 5% votes. Surprisingly, Akshay Kumar, who started off on a fantastic note with most voters preferring him over the other fiercely competitive and delicious hunks in the first two days of the poll, did not quite maintain his standing in the race. The Khiladi actor netted 13% votes. The contest was wide open between the Khans and the other stunning stars until the lava-hot Roshan step into the competition only to win it with majority of votes!
Is Hollywood listening?

Really he is a legendary actor of all time,he was and he is the King Khan.
Indians have very lousy taste and are unpredictable. Look at it honestly…you will all agree that SRK has only one style of acting and has been repeating himself movie after movie. Ther are far better actors than him in this country who have done different types of roles and have excelled in all of them. Awards in India is all bullshit and is done only for show. Sometimes it looks like all the awards won by SRK have been bought and not deserved; because in the same year far better actors were denied awards for far better acting and films. Whether one likes Abhishek or not, he was excellent in Guru, but was denied a well deserved best actor award. In India shows are meant to make money and to really choose the most deserved one. Actors like Hritik and Ranbir Kappor are by far the best actors but are relegated to lower positions because the Indians are crazy over the Khans..
1.DDLJ
2.DTPH
3.KKHH
@dinesh why we want bond fall from sky by signing irritating and overacting hritik roshan..srk is million bucks better thn srk..hritik his actin koi mil gaya overactin ..evn salman shd hav won best actor award for tere naam(which best effort of his)…hritik is still dad’s spoon feeding kid…in zmnd abhay deol & farhan akthar showed hritik wat excatly is actin about…stop comparing a spoon feedin kid to worldwide superstar SRK….
