Dangal is yet another blockbuster for Aamir Khan. His third consecutive blockbuster or better after Dhoom 3 and PK. It’s also his fifth consecutive blockbuster during Christmas which includes films like Ghajini, 3 Idiots, Dhoom 3 and PK.
The trend of the film is extraordinary, even better than an universally acclaimed blockbuster like ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ last year.
Dangal has collected 23.07 crore (including collections from Tamil and Telugu versions) on Tuesday, to take its 5-day total to Rs 155.50 crore net.
Looking at the trend, the film will collect around Rs 196 crore in its first week. Thereafter, the film has 2 open weeks before the release of ‘Ok Jaanu’ on January 13 – including the big weekend for New Year, which will help bring more audience to theatres to watch Aamir Khan’s latest classic.
With 300 crore almost a certainty, the ‘PK’ record of Rs 341 crore is well within reach for Dangal. The level of collections in the second weekend will decide if the film will fall short of ‘PK’ or go on to be a much bigger grosser.
