Ranbir Kapoor’s Barfi will be the first Indian mainstream film in recent times to release in Turkey, as the romantic comedy opens in 40 screens on May 10 2013.
“Turkey is a place where my grandfather (the legendary Raj Kapoor) has a great following even today. To see my film getting a wide theatrical release in the same country is a huge compliment. I am very excited about this” Kapoor said.
One of the most critically acclaimed and commercially successful films of 2012, Anurag Basu’s Barfi swept almost all major awards this year including Best Film, Best Director and Best Actor.
“We are excited to have a film like ‘Barfi’ as the first on this scale. We are currently showing trailers of the film on over 200 screens and the response from the audiences has been extremely encouraging” said Turkey film exhibitor Firat Dilbaz.
Below we have the Turkish and Russian Posters of Barfi.

Ranbir Kapoor is carrying forward the Kapoor legacy in a great way. Earlier Raj Kapoor’s films used to travel all over the world. Now it’s Ranbir! I’m sure his grandfather must be proud of him if he were alive.
